Nights of Eternity How to Play Survivor
Survivalist, sentinel, healer, and support kits, plus who should sit on cabinets.
Survivor in Nights of Eternity is a job split, not a deathmatch. Up to eight players share five arcade sets while one animatronic hunts. Someone has to complete cabinets. Someone has to peel. Someone has to top up HP. If all eight run the same selfish loop, the timer never moves and Last Man Standing arrives with unused cabinets still glowing. This page is the role guide; pair it with Arcade Objectives for minigames and How to Survive for chase. New lobby flow is in Getting Started. The index is the Guides Hub.
Roles that actually exist
- Survivalist: Night Guard. Lives through chases so cabinets keep getting done. Overtime (speed), Mask (Invisibility and Undetectable), Pizza (self-heal that charges Overtime).
- Sentinel: Phone Guy and Henry ($700). Stuns create arcade windows. Phone Guy Taunt is a 3-second stun; Repair is a channeled heal; Ongoing Repairs is +10 HP and max HP per stun, cap 110. Henry Brace parries, Strike stuns, Windup stores charges, Building Momentum grants extra Strike charges.
- Healer: Evan ($500). Plushie aura heals other people for 20 HP. Flashlight applies Helpless and Slowness. Evan is not a second Night Guard.
- Support: Michael ($600). Shocker drops a zone that slows the killer. Self Shock heals 10 HP and grants speed. Michael creates distance and buy-time, not raw stuns.
- Early access: Cassidy. Torment is an AOE laugh that charges ITS ME while applying slow and resist. ITS ME heals or stuns based on those charges. Rift opens a portal to the furthest arcade, which is a rotation tool, not a panic teleport into a dead end. Charlie Emily has been seen as an early-access survivor in YouTube footage; treat her as unconfirmed for loadout planning. Vanessa is scrapped.
Full portraits and extra notes live on the survivors roster. Rankings move; check the survivors tier list after patches such as the Cassidy update. If you only know the job you want, use the survivor picker.
Team jobs at spawn
Call two players cabinet primary. They path the five sets and only peel if the killer is already in the room. Call one player peel. That is Phone Guy or Henry standing between the hunter and the minigame. Everyone else is flex: finish a nearby cabinet when safe, then rotate to the chase. Michael’s Shocker belongs on the lane the killer must take to reach a set, not in a random dining room. Evan’s Plushie belongs on the person being hit, not on full-HP Night Guards across the map.
Do not stack three sentinels and zero healers unless the lobby is already coordinated. A 3-second Taunt with nobody on a cabinet wastes the stun. A Plushie with nobody in the aura wastes the 20 HP. Henry’s Strike is strong only if a teammate uses the stun window, not if Henry is farming charges in an empty hallway.
How to play each kit
Night Guard. Hold Mask for the moment the killer commits a M1, not for walking across an open floor. Overtime is for reaching the next set or extending a loop, and Pizza is the reset that also banks Overtime. You are allowed to leave a cabinet if Slash already applied Bleeding; dead survivalists complete nothing. In Last Man Standing, Mask is almost useless because both sides are highlighted.
Phone Guy. Taunt is your entire identity. Use it when a teammate is mid-fish or mid-box-drag, or when you need a Repair channel. Ongoing Repairs rewards you for landing stuns, so take fights you can actually hit. Do not start Repair in the killer’s face; the channel cancels if you have to sprint. Cap is 110 HP. Play him until the stun timing is boring, then consider Henry.
Evan. Stand near injured players. Plushie does not heal you as a replacement for Pizza. Flashlight’s Helpless plus Slowness is the peel when you lack a stun: it is for stopping a lunge so the chased player can turn a corner, not for dueling Springtrap. If you are the one being tunneled, you will feel fragile; that is the kit, not a bug. Hide behind Phone Guy or Henry.
Michael. Drop Shocker on chokepoints and arcade rooms, then Self Shock to heal 10 and leave. You are the slow field. Against Foxy, the zone matters more than a late heal because Pounce (40) and Dive (23) punish straight lines. Against Freddy, respect Lullaby’s Slowness and Weakness before you Self Shock through a plush.
Henry. Brace is a parry, not a panic shield. Strike is the stun; Windup and Building Momentum exist so you can store extra Strikes instead of throwing one the instant it lights up. Save a charge for the cabinet that is 80% done. Henry wants a teammate who will actually finish that cabinet during the stun.
Cassidy. Torment to stack ITS ME charges and to apply slow plus resist in a group. Spend ITS ME on the mode you need (heal versus stun) instead of dumping it on cooldown. Rift to the furthest arcade when that set is still unfinished and the killer is occupied, not when you are already the last alive and the highlight will follow you through the portal.
Killer matchups, survivor side
Springtrap (free, 1000 HP): Slash 20 plus Bleeding, Punch 35, Seek aura, Cleave axe. Break line of sight after Slash so Bleeding is the only damage you take while you find a heal. Do not clump for Cleave.
Foxy ($800, 800 HP): Slash 25, Pounce 40, Sneak (Invisibility plus speed), Dive 23. Look for Sneak breaks. Phone Guy Taunt and Henry Brace are for the Pounce, not for poking his 800 HP.
Freddy ($1100, 1000 HP): Swing 26, Mic Throw 15 plus aura, Lullaby plush (slow and weak), Phase (Invisibility plus reveal). He is a zoner. Do not eat Mic Throw just to start a cabinet. Cleanse Weakness before you take a long loop.
Withered Bonnie (early access, 1000 HP): Payback shortens stuns, Punch 26 with anti-heal, Grab dash 35, Scream slow at 80 studs, Reveal 5 seconds. Land shorter stuns and assume Evan’s 20 HP aura is less efficient after Punch. The Puppet is not in the killer slot yet.
Economy and when to buy
Stay free until you can explain why you died. Then: Evan if your lobby never heals others, Michael if Foxy and Springtrap keep winning races to cabinets, Henry if you already land Phone Guy Taunts and want parry plus stored Strikes. Read How to Play Killer so you know what 1000 HP and 800 HP feel like from the other side. Input timing is in Nights of Eternity Controls. Patch order is on the roadmap.
Play survivor as a clock manager. Cabinets move the night. Kits only exist to keep people on those cabinets.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Who is the best free survivor for a new player?
Phone Guy is the clearer first pick because Taunt is a 3-second stun and Repair is a simple channel. Night Guard is stronger once you time Mask and Overtime, as Getting Started outlines.
Should the whole team do arcades at once?
No. Keep two players on the five sets and at least one sentinel peeling. See Arcade Objectives for spawn rules and when to abandon a cabinet.
Does Evan's Plushie heal Evan?
Plushie is an aura that heals others for 20 HP. Bring Pizza (Night Guard) or Repair (Phone Guy) if you need selfish sustain, and track Helpless on status effects.
When do I use Cassidy's Rift?
Portal to the furthest unfinished arcade while the killer is busy. In Last Man Standing the highlight follows you, so Rift is a rotation tool, not a hide. Details on Cassidy.
How do I practice survivor without buying anyone?
Alternate Night Guard chase games and Phone Guy peel games, then review deaths with How to Survive and Nights of Eternity Controls.
